Getting closer to being done unpacking the old kitchen. We had a few issues with placing some of our pots and pans into the new cabinets. We have a few more linear feet of storage in the new kitchen but some of the cabinets are not as wide or deep as the old design. So we had to revise our storage plan a bit to make more efficient use of the new design.
I got a copy of the parts list for the refrigerator that we ordered and found that we are missing one shelf. I got the new shelf on order but it may take a few weeks to get here since these are new models.
Setting up the new Miele dishwashers for their first use is turning out to be a bit of an adventure. The dishwashers have a water softener system built into them and they want to know how hard the water is before you start using them. So we have a call into the local water district to find that out before we can use the new dishwashers.
The hood came with a three speed fan controller instead of a variable speed fan controller. Checking back through my notes, we had ordered the correct fan controller, but just got delivered the wrong one. So the correct speed controller is now on its way.
Some time in the next couple of weeks we will get back together with the kitchen designer to create a punch list of items that need to be adjusted/corrected to make the kitchen just right.
Hopefully I will be able to get the rest of the kitchen unpacked Thursday night (tonight is band practice) - except for the spice drawer since I forgot to order the new spice jars - and really start using it.
Oh, I forgot about the oil & vinegar drawer. I want to get a stainless steel or copper drawer liner made so that I will not hurt the finish or wood with any oil or vinegar drips. For now I made a folded foil pan on top of butcher paper. It works but it is not pretty.
