hot chocolate

It was still snowing when I got home from work so I figure some hot chocolate was just the thing to warm up with after dodging bad drivers on the way home. This is still a very basic recipe, while I do like the occasional French-style chocolate I do not like to drink as much of it because of the creame.
Servings:
2 to 3
Preparation Time:
0.25 hours
Tools
  • cutting board & knife
  • sauce pan
  • whisk
  • measuring spoons
  • liquid measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 3 T. milk
  • 1/4 superfine granulated sugar
  • 1/2 t. vanilla powder
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 oz. unsweetened or at least 85% chocolate
Cooking Instructions
  • Disolve the sugar, salt, and vanilla into the milk in the measuring cup.
  • Warm for 30 seconds in the microwave. Stir. Give it another 30 seconds.
  • Chop up the chocolate into small pieces.
  • Place the chocolate and water into the sauce pan over a low heat.
  • Whisk constantly until the chocolate is completely melted.
  • Slowly whisk in the sweetened milk.
  • Whisk until the chocolate milk begins to steam. Do not let it boil.
  • Pour the hot chocolate into warmed cups and enjoy.
Notes
This is a great drink to have with a brownie and chocolate ice creame after a nasty drive home from work!
