Introduction

A decent, and comparatively inexpensive, induction cook-top. We are using ours in our temporary kitchen while we are having the main kitchen remodelled.

Equipment review

I liked it. I would purchase it again. I will continue to use it on trips in motel rooms after my kitchen remodel is complete.

I have used Viking, Cooktek, Magnewave, and Wolf induction cooktops before purchasing this little Waring unit. While the Waring is not big and beefy like the fancier (and significantly more expensive) brands it boils water, heats soups, and cooks eggs and cheese sandwiches just fine.

Two cups of water in a small sauce pan boils in just over three minutes. 1.5 gallons of water in a large soup pot boils in just over twelve minutes.

I have a few little issues with it:

1. Bad cord placement. The cord should come out of the side near the back instead of out of the back. I have to set the unit sideways on the counter which then puts the away from me to keep the cord from wanting to come back up and touch the pan. (-0.5)

2. Bad control placement. The on/off button and timer +/- buttons are far enough from the cooking surface but the temperature +/- buttons are too close. It would be nice to have all of the buttons near the top edge. (-0.5)

3. There is no low heat. Low on this unit is just medium turned on for a short time and off for a long time. The unit draws 8A (low & medium) and 10A (high). You can cook fast scrambled and fried eggs. You can not do a slow, fluffy, omelette. (-1.0)

Other Waring annoyances:

Marketing people on coffee. While Waring markets this as a "Professional Induction Cooktop" in their literature - you can only find it on their residential equipment web-site. If it is not professional equipment, please do not try market it as such. We do not believe you and it makes us not want to believe any other claims by Waring about their products.

Flash only residential web-site. You can look at the commercial products web-site without installing Flash ( http://waringpro.com/com/ ). But you can not get any information from the residential products web-site without Flash.

We've needed more kenmore

We've needed more kenmore parts for our appliances this last year so are going to replace everything this spring.
