Band Road Trip Potluck

My first "big" road trip with my pipe band is coming up in a couple of weeks - with a six hour drive from Tigard, OR to John Day, OR. (Actually a nine hour drive if you include the lunch and rest breaks.)

The band is renting 30' motorhome for the trip, which also gives us a couple more beds in John Day, and we decided to have a potluck lunch on the way at a nice little wayside off of Hwy. 26 in Warm Springs, OR that overlooks the Deschutes River.

I will be bringing a selection of three soups: roasted cauliflower (vegan), curry pumpkin (vegetarian), and split pea & ham (omnivore); a couple of loaves of my whole wheat & rye sourdough bread and one loaf of a plain whole wheat bread in case there is someone in the group that is not into sourdough.

So if you are out in John Day, OR on Saturday, September 15th stop by and visit us at the Eastern Oregon Highland Games at the Grant County Fairgrounds.

The band is back home now - no band members missing between Portland and John Day. In addition to the soups and bread that I brought, we had some potato salad, carrots, celery, broccolli, apples, peaches, grapes, and ginger biscotti. Quite a nice little lunch by the Deschutes river in Warm Springs on our trip to John Day.
